PACIFIC RADIO GROUP
RAISES $60,000 FOR KATRINA RELIEF
September 27, 2005
A combined effort from Pacific Radio Group’s 14 radio stations on
Maui and the Big Island helped to raise an impressive $60,000 for
Hurricane Katrina relief and recovery efforts.
The campaign began with a one-day fundraising drive on the Big
Island in which on-air personalities from Pacific Radio Group
accepted donations for the Red Cross in front of Starbuck stores.
The event alone brought in a one-day total of $40,232.
On Maui, an abbreviated version of the fundraising event on
September 12th resulted in more than $10,000 in donations in just
four hours. During the Maui drive, Haleakala Waldorf School dropped
off nearly $2,000 in checks; and a bidding challenge between two
companies at the Starbucks location at the Queen Kaahumanu Center,
resulted in a combined total contribution of $3,025 from J.S.
Construction and Excavation and A&A Trucking.
Additional funds were also raised through on-air auctions and
walk-in donations at our Kahului offices.
100% of the funds raised are being used by the American Red Cross to
help victims of Hurricane Katrina by providing immediate food and
shelter. As immediate needs are fulfilled, additional funds will go
towards long-term recovery efforts.
These kind donations on Maui and the Big Island are a true
reflection of the giving spirit alive and well in our islands. In
working together, we were able to extend our gifts in the spirit of
aloha on behalf of all of Hawaii.
